Washington, D.C. – Chairman Jodey Arrington and his colleagues held a press conference this week to discuss Arrington's amicus brief supporting the State of Texas in United States v. Texas. The brief argues in favor of Texas's Senate Bill 4, which makes illegal entry into Texas from a foreign nation a state crime. Arrington's brief cites the sovereign right to self-defense explicitly stated in Article I, Section 10 of the U.S. Constitution.

During the press conference, Chairman Arrington expressed his support for the state of Texas and its efforts to protect its citizens. He emphasized the importance of defending the border and criticized the federal government for failing to provide for a common defense and enforce the laws of the land.

Arrington highlighted the measures taken by Texas, including Operation Lonestar, the deployment of razor wire fencing and buoy barriers, the construction of a state border wall, and the recently passed Senate Bill 4. He explained that the state is making its argument on the constitutional basis that the federal government has failed to protect Texas against an invasion, as stated in Article 4, Section 4 of the Constitution.

"The constitution is clear and unequivocal: If a state has actually been invaded OR if there is imminent danger that will not permit delay, every state has the inherent and sovereign right to self-defense," Arrington stated.

He further emphasized that the situation at the southern border is an invasion and poses imminent danger to the citizens of Texas. Arrington made it clear that Texans will not passively accept the failures of the federal government and will not seek permission from those in power who refuse to enforce the law.

Arrington also addressed the recent impeachment of Alejandro Mayorkas, the Secretary of Homeland Security, by the House. He expressed his belief that a conviction is imminent, not just for Mayorkas but for the Commander in Chief and his entire chain of command.

The press conference highlighted the ongoing legal battle between Texas and the Department of Justice, with Texas arguing for its right to self-defense and the federal government claiming that immigration is solely a federal responsibility. Arrington's amicus brief and the support of his colleagues aim to bolster Texas's case and defend the state's actions to protect its border.

As the debate continues, Chairman Arrington and his colleagues remain steadfast in their support of Texas and its right to self-defense. They stand united in their commitment to defending the border and protecting the people of Texas.
