House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington announced the passage of a funding bill aimed at supporting farmers in West Texas. The bill addresses challenges posed by drought and inflation, which have impacted agricultural production.
Arrington stated, "As a result of Democrats’ reckless spending and Biden’s failed economic policies, our farmers have been walking the high wire of production agriculture with effectively no safety net." He emphasized the need for emergency Farm Bill supplemental funding to mitigate these effects.
He added that without such measures, "we threaten our food supply, jeopardize our young farmers, and put entire rural communities at risk." Arrington expressed pride in collaborating with Speaker Johnson and other colleagues to ensure resources were included in the year-end funding bill.
Looking ahead, Arrington highlighted the importance of reforming the Farm Bill's safety net. He said it is crucial to "move away from un-budgeted, ad hoc emergency spending."
Arrington also mentioned his work with GOP House leadership to deliver disaster relief and support President Trump's America First agenda. He noted a commitment to reducing deficit spending through reconciliation next year.
"Republicans are uniting under the leadership of President Trump and Speaker Johnson to close out the disastrous four years of the Biden-Harris administration and pave the way for a safer and more prosperous future for America," he concluded.
