WASHINGTON D.C. – Representative Jodey Arrington (TX-19) expressed his support for the recently passed 45 day funding extension, stating that it was the best choice among unfavorable options after Republicans failed to pass a unified funding bill. Arrington emphasized the importance of avoiding a government shutdown and holding politicians accountable for their failure to fund the government.

In a statement, Arrington highlighted the reasons behind his decision to support the short term funding extension. He pointed out that the Republican conference had failed to pass funding bills on time, breaking their promise to the American people. To address this issue, Arrington recently introduced the "No Appropriations, No Recess" bill, which aims to keep Congress in Washington until the work is finished.

Arrington also stressed the need to prevent the Democrat Senate from pushing their spending package through the House, which included $6 billion in Ukraine funding. This move would have undermined the leverage for demanding border security funding in the final bill.

As the appropriations process continues, Arrington made it clear that he will only support bills that prioritize spending cuts, eradicate wasteful spending in Washington, and advance genuine border security measures.

Looking ahead, Arrington emphasized the importance of addressing the debt issue by implementing a ten-year balanced budget. He mentioned that his committee recently passed a balanced budget for the first time in five years, which would save $16 trillion. The Republican fiscal plan aims to tackle Washington's deficit spending addiction and unsustainable national debt, ultimately restoring fiscal responsibility in the nation's capital.
