Stamford, TX – On June 28, Representative Jodey Arrington (TX-19) participated in the 93rd Annual Texas Cowboy Reunion.

“The Texas Cowboy Reunion has been preserving the heritage of the American Cowboy in the West for over 90 years. Texans have always been a resilient people – and what started as a way for Stamford to lift the spirits of its citizens from the depths of the Great Depression has developed into what is known as the world’s largest amateur rodeo. My family and I look forward to the rodeo every year and I’m glad to be in Stamford with my friends and fellow West Texans!”

Background:

In 1930, community members of Stamford, Texas met to discuss the forming of an organization to help boost the local community out of the Great Depression and honor the pioneers of the old west. With this in mind, the organizers agreed on a Rodeo that would become the Texas Cowboy Reunion.

Today, 93 years later, the Texas Cowboy Reunion is responsible for many contests which are now considered a part of rodeos everywhere. The five-day event has become a treasured West Texas tradition!
