House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington recently visited Leprino Foods' new manufacturing facility in Lubbock, Texas. The visit highlighted the plant's anticipated economic impact on the West Texas region.
“It was great to meet the good people at Leprino and tour their new facility in Lubbock,” said Chairman Arrington. “Their investment will bring billions to our local economy for years to come. Congratulations to team Leprino, and welcome to West Texas!”
Lance FitzSimmons, President and CEO of Leprino Foods, expressed pride in establishing the company's 10th and most advanced facility in Lubbock. “From the start, we knew this community was the right fit — sharing our culture, work ethic and values," he stated. "As we’ve shown over the years, we don’t just build factories; we become part of the community. With the estimated $10 billion economic impact this new plant will have on the region over the next decade, Leprino Foods and West Texas have a bright future together.”
Leprino Foods Company is headquartered in Denver, Colorado, and is one of the largest producers of mozzarella cheese globally. It also supplies lactose, whey protein, and sweet whey. The Lubbock plant represents a $1 billion investment in state-of-the-art manufacturing technology. This investment is projected to generate $10.6 billion for Texas over ten years.
The construction of Phase 1 began in July 2022 and started production by January 2025. Phase 2 commenced in January 2025 with completion expected by 2026. The facility will be supplied by regional dairies with approximately 200 milk trucks per day.
