House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington and Republican Study Committee Chairman August Pfluger have introduced a Congressional Review Act (CRA) aimed at reducing energy costs. The initiative seeks to support former President Trump's pro-energy agenda by overturning the Biden administration's Environmental Protection Agency's Waste Emissions Charge (WEC) for petroleum and natural gas.

Chairman Arrington stated, "The Waste Emissions Charge is just another unnecessary and wasteful regulation levied by the Biden EPA to go after oil and gas - the lifeblood of our economy." He expressed pride in joining Rep. August Pfluger in efforts to repeal this regulation, advocating for reliable, low-cost energy from independent oil and gas companies.

Chairman Pfluger criticized former President Biden's policies, saying they hindered energy producers. He commented, "Biden’s burdensome natural gas tax has handicapped technological innovation, reduced supplies of affordable energy, and increased both costs and emissions." Pfluger emphasized the need to restore American energy dominance under President Trump.

Senator John Hoeven of North Dakota echoed these sentiments as a sponsor of companion legislation in the Senate. Hoeven remarked on the challenges posed by previous policies: "The Biden-Harris administration imposed countless policies like the Natural Gas Tax that drive up the cost of production." He highlighted ongoing efforts to provide regulatory relief through initiatives like this CRA resolution.

The text of the CRA is available for public review.
