The House Budget Committee convened to discuss the Concurrent Resolution on the Budget for Fiscal Year 2025. Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-Texas) presented his remarks during this session, emphasizing a commitment to fiscal responsibility and national security.
Arrington stated, "Today, we will deliver on the people’s mandate by advancing the FY25 budget resolution to restore the fiscal health of our nation by reining in reckless spending and reigniting economic growth." He highlighted the importance of providing resources to secure borders and strengthen military capabilities, aligning with President Trump's America First agenda.
The budget aims to address economic challenges faced by working families and small businesses. Arrington noted plans to reverse policies from the Biden-Harris administration regarding domestic energy, aiming to lower consumer prices and enhance American energy independence. Additionally, he mentioned efforts to reduce government regulations impacting small businesses.
On national security, Arrington emphasized resource allocation for border patrol agents and troops. He stated, "We will provide critical resources to our border patrol agents and our troops to strengthen our military, secure our border, and bolster our Commander in Chief."
Arrington's remarks also touched on public sentiment following recent elections: "The American people want their country back. They want normal. They want to return to commonsense." He called for efficient government operations that respect taxpayer contributions.
Concluding his statement, Arrington described the budget resolution as a strategic plan for restoring America's global standing. "This budget resolution is more than numbers on a ledger; it’s a blueprint for restoring America’s security, prosperity, and leadership in the world," he said.
Following Arrington's presentation, Ranking Member Boyle was given five minutes for his opening statement.
