House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington appeared on Fox Business' Coast to Coast with guest host David Asman. During the discussion, he addressed concerns about wasteful spending and the potential expiration of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act.

Arrington emphasized the need to tackle what he described as excessive spending on social services for individuals residing illegally in the country. He highlighted a "welfare-to-work incentive in Medicaid" that could potentially save $100 billion. Additionally, he pointed out improper payments totaling $50 billion in Medicaid and Medicare, along with $236 billion government-wide, surpassing expenditures on the U.S. Army.

Arrington expressed concern over the continuation of these financial practices: "That’s the beginning of reducing trillions of dollars in spending, reducing our deficit, and national debt so that our best days are ahead of us."

Regarding tax policies, Arrington advocated for maintaining the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act to prevent what he termed "the highest tax increase on American families and businesses in history." He stressed that keeping taxes low is essential for competitiveness and economic stability.

He stated, "The important thing is that we don't let the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act expire," emphasizing its role in unprecedented growth and low poverty rates.

Arrington's interview underscores ongoing debates about fiscal responsibility and tax policy as lawmakers navigate economic challenges.
