West Texas – On August 16, Rep. Jodey Arrington (TX-19) visited with his friends and fellow West Texans to discuss legislative opportunities in Washington, including the 2023 Farm Bill.

Included below are highlights and photos of the day’s events:

Rep. Arrington met with the Lubbock Apartment Association’s Leadership Class to discuss legislative priorities, the challenges facing renters in Lubbock and across the nation, and the importance of legislative advocacy.

“I always enjoy visiting with the Lubbock Apartment Association. These folks have their finger on the pulse of the West Texas economy and understand how the Biden Administration’s failed tax-and-spend policies are hurting families in Lubbock and across the country.” said Rep. Arrington. “The LAA has been an important partner to me as I work to advance policies to create a fairer tax code, incentivize investment in Rural America, and empower American families to prosper.”

Next, Arrington had lunch with the Lubbock Executive Association, which includes small business owners and leaders.

“Our small businesses are the lifeblood of West Texas and the heartbeat of America,” said Rep. Arrington. The members of the Lubbock Executive Association represent the job creators who understand the work it takes to keep a small business afloat under the pressures of inflation and burdens of a labor shortage and excessive regulations. Washington needs to rein-in spending, right-size the bloated bureaucracy, and return to pro-growth, pro-work, and pro-energy policies that will unleash American prosperity once again.”

Then, Arrington traveled to the Bar-G Feedyard in Summerfield, TX to view the company’s cattle feeding operation.

“Bar-G’s cattle feedyards are a taste of what the Food, Fuel, and Fiber Capital is all about,” said Rep. Arrington. “From bedtime stories of weathered cattlemen driving their herds across the dusty plains to the seductive smell of back yard barbeques, beef is deeply woven into the cultural and economic fabric of West Texas.”

Later that evening, Rep. Arrington hosted a Listening Session in Amarillo where the members discussed priorities for the 2023 Farm Bill.

“As a representative for the hardworking farmers and ranchers across West Texas, and one of the top agriculture producing districts in the country, I know firsthand how important a Farm Bill is to our nation’s economy and national security,” said Arrington. “There is no one better equipped to lead the charge of feeding a hungry world than American producers who lead the world in efficient and sustainable agriculture production. Our farmers and ranchers represent more than food and fiber – they symbolize a culture of faith, hard work, and independence, which has always been at the heart of American greatness.”
