In this season of holiday giving, the Buddy Holly Center and the Silent Wings Museum invites the public to donate to the Community Outreach team with the City of Lubbock. They partner with the Salvation Army and Open Door to help provide necessities for the homeless, especially with these chilly months upon us.
In simple terms, a transfer station is an enclosed, waypoint structure at which City Trash Collection Trucks can empty their loads. We can then consolidate several loads and make less trips to the City Landfill, which is located in Abernathy.

City of Lubbock Animal Services (LAS) has received preliminary pathology reports back regarding the recent illness that has spread through the LAS shelter. Specialists at West Texas A&M University in Canyon have confirmed distemper as the cause of the illness. Distemper is a highly contagious viral disease that affects dogs and other animals by attacking the respiratory, gastrointestinal and nervous systems. Tests are pending to determine if there is an underlying reason for the increase in distemper.

This week, the House Committee on Ways and Means passed out of Committee H.R. 4822, the Health Care Price Transparency Act. Included in the package was Rep. Arrington’s H.R. 4846, the Better Deals and Lower Prices Act, a bill that would require pharmacy benefit managers (PBMs) to share net price data from all drugs regardless of class to employers that request it, allowing businesses small and large to access the same information and shop effectively.
