The U.S. House of Representatives is reviewing the House Republican Budget Resolution, which includes a policy aimed at curbing federal overregulation. The resolution seeks to reassert Congress' legislative authority and reduce compliance costs for Americans. Though not legally binding, it encourages committees to consider regulatory reforms such as the REINS Act in future legislation.

Rep. Josh Brecheen (R-Okla.) introduced the policy statement during the House Budget Committee's markup of the Concurrent Resolution on the Budget for Fiscal Year 2025. He expressed gratitude to Congresswoman Cammack for her leadership on this issue, stating, "Hardworking Americans have been plagued for far too long by burdensome regulations put in place by unelected Washington bureaucrats." Brecheen highlighted that the amendment aims to "end bureaucratic rule and restore power back to the people."

The policy statement addresses concerns about excessive regulations impacting small businesses and domestic energy production. It criticizes the Biden-Harris administration for expanding executive power and imposing $1.7 trillion in regulatory costs, along with significant paperwork burdens.

Further details can be found in Section 4003 of the Policy Statement on Government Deregulation.
