WASHINGTON, D.C. - House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) expressed his satisfaction with the passage of H.R. 2670, the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) for Fiscal Year 2024, by the House and Senate.

Arrington emphasized the importance of adequately funding the military in a time of increased global threats and highlighted the significance of the defense bill in providing resources for the safety and success of US troops. He stated, "The defense bill provides our troops with the resources they need to be safe and successful in the first and most important job of our government."

The chairman also highlighted the cost-saving measures included in the defense package, stating that it eliminates $37 billion in wasteful spending and addresses what he refers to as "woke programs." Arrington explained, "This defense package saves billions of taxpayer dollars by cutting wasteful spending and rooting out woke programs by banning CRT, gutting DEI programs, removing the pride flag from military bases, and repealing radical climate mandates."

Arrington further outlined the key provisions in the defense package that aim to bolster US military capabilities and counter potential adversaries. He noted that the legislation limits the Biden administration's efforts to reduce the number of Special Forces, prevents the divestment of essential aircraft such as the F-22 and C-130, and prohibits the reduction of missiles in the country's nuclear arsenal. These measures are intended to enhance US lethality in the face of challenges posed by countries like China, Russia, and Iran.

In addition to the funding and strategic measures, Arrington highlighted specific accomplishments of the defense bill. He expressed pride in granting the largest pay raise for troops in 20 years and in fully funding Dyess Air Force Base, B-1 weapon modernization, and the development of the next-generation B-21 bomber.

Arrington concluded by emphasizing the importance of projecting strength and demonstrating unwavering commitment to the military. He stated, "America must project strength - this legislation shows our unwavering commitment to our troops, stewardship of taxpayer dollars, and rooting out woke ideology and unAmerican policies that have no place in our military."

The passage of H.R. 2670, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2024, ensures the allocation of necessary resources for the US military, addresses wasteful spending, and strengthens the country's defense capabilities. With Chairman Arrington's support and the collaboration of the House and Senate, this legislation reflects a commitment to the safety and success of US troops and the responsible use of taxpayer dollars.
