WASHINGTON, D.C. – On May 17, Representative Jodey Arrington (TX-19) voted in support of H.R. 3091, the Federal Law Enforcement Officer Service Weapon Purchase Act.

“Currently, federal law enforcement agencies are required to destroy retired weapons, which is just another example of illogical government policies and unnecessary waste,” said Rep. Arrington. "That’s why I voted for H.R. 3091, commonsense legislation to allow law enforcement officers to buy their government-issued handgun from the government when they retire."

Background

This legislation allows current and retired federal law enforcement officers in good standing to purchase a retired service weapon from a federal agency.
