WASHINGTON, D.C. – On May 23, Representative Jodey Arrington (TX-19) voted in support of S.J.Res 11, legislation utilizing the Congressional Review Act to repeal the EPA rule related to emission standards for heavy duty engines.

“The Biden Administration’s regulatory assault on American energy is harming farmers, ranchers, and small businesses in West Texas and throughout the country. S. J. Res. 11 would overturn the Biden EPA rule on emission standards for heavy-duty engines, which would spike already-high labor costs, exacerbate existing supply chain meltdowns, and increase costs for consumers," said Rep. Arrington.

Background:

  • This joint resolution nullifies the Environmental Protection Agency rule relating to Control of Air Pollution From New Motor Vehicles: Heavy-Duty Engine and Vehicle Standards (88 Fed. Reg. 4296) and published on January 24, 2023.
  • The rule modifies emission standards to reduce air pollution, including ozone and particulate matter, from heavy-duty engines and vehicles.
  • S.J. Res. 11 will prevent the financial burdens and aggressive regulation that will raise costs on any product transported by truck, including food, clothing, and building materials.
