There were 23 American Indian students enrolled in Frenship ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 14.8% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Frenship ISD schools welcomed 11,165 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, American Indian students comprised 0.2% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Frenship ISD roughly covers schools within Lubbock County and has a main office in Wolfforth.

Among the 12 schools in Frenship ISD schools, Frenship High School recorded the highest enrollment of American Indian students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of seven students.

The Texas education system is currently torn between public schools and taxpayer-funded private schools.

Critics argue that private schools use funds that should go to the public school system, while private school advocates claim they’re offering better education for more Texas students.
