New Deal ISD schools Education: 11 multiracial students were enrolled in schools in 2022-23 school year

There were 11 multiracial students enrolled in New Deal ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 31.3% less than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that New Deal ISD schools welcomed 757 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, multiracial students comprised 1.5% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

New Deal ISD roughly covers schools within Lubbock County and has a main office in New Deal.

Among the four schools in New Deal ISD schools, New Deal High School recorded the highest enrollment of multiracial students in the 2022-23 school year, with a total of nine students.

Education in Texas is often a hot button issue, especially as test scores lag behind other states.

"The problems commonly cited are flaws in the school financing system, relatively low teacher salary, poor test performance by students... dropouts from traditional schools in favor of charter schools... gun violence, and mental health issues," claimed the Texas Almanac.
