Washington, D.C. – Congressman Jodey Arrington (TX-19) issued a statement following the passage of the Farm Bill out of the House Agriculture Committee this week.
"Congratulations to Chairman Thompson and the House Ag Committee for passing a Farm Bill out of committee. Their leadership in starting this process is critical to delivering a final product. Our producers have faced major challenges - historic drought, inflation, and wildfires just to name a few. Furthermore, unfair trade practices have put American farmers and ranchers at a major disadvantage. The ag safety net mitigates some of these risks and helps ensure a strong and secure food supply for the United States. If we fail to get this right, we will be dependent on other countries for our food like we are with computer chips, life-saving medication, and other essential goods. That’s a really bad idea!"
