No. 10 Texas Tech won its first team title of the season on March 24 by setting a new tournament record at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational, held at Floridian National Golf Club in Palm City, Florida.
The victory is significant as Texas Tech overcame a two-shot deficit to No. 1 Auburn in the final round and finished six shots ahead of them. The Red Raiders’ total score of 807, or 45-under-par, broke the previous tournament record set by Texas in 2025. The field included five teams ranked in the top ten and ten programs inside the top twenty-five.
Ben Gregg led Texas Tech with a career-best finish, tying for third place at thirteen-under-par after shooting consecutive rounds of sixty-six. Gregg also tied for most birdies in the event with eighteen and was second-best on par-4 holes at seven-under. Tim Wiedemeyer followed closely behind, tying for seventh place at twelve-under-par and making only two bogeys during his rounds.
All five players from Texas Tech finished under par for the tournament: Connor Graham tied for thirteenth at nine-under; Brady McHenry tied for twenty-third at six-under; Adam Bresnu tied for thirtieth at four-under. The team closed out their win with a final-round score of seventeen-under-par.
This marks Texas Tech’s first team win since March 2024 and follows recent runner-up finishes earlier this spring. The Red Raiders will next compete April 13-14 at the Mountaineer Invitational to close their regular season.
