Texas Tech announced on March 22 that its men’s golf team will begin play at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Houston, starting Monday, March 23 at the Floridian National Golf Club in Palm City, Florida.
The tournament features a strong field of 15 teams, including top-ranked programs such as Auburn (No. 1), Texas (No. 6), Arkansas (No. 7), and Arizona State (No. 8). Texas Tech enters the event ranked No. 10 nationally according to the March 18 Scoreboard/Clippd rankings.
The Red Raiders’ lineup for this event includes Connor Graham, Adam Bresnu, Tim Wiedemeyer, Brady McHenry, and Ben Gregg. The format is stroke play with five players per team and four scores counting each round over a total of 54 holes—36 holes on Monday and a final round of 18 holes on Tuesday with shotgun starts scheduled for both days at 7:30 a.m. Central Daylight Time.
In their previous outing at the Pauma Valley Invitational from March 16-18, Texas Tech finished tenth overall with a combined score of three-over-par (855). Individual performances included Brady McHenry tying for twenty-second place with one-under-par and Connor Graham tying for forty-first place at two-over-par.
Several Red Raiders have received recognition during the season: Adam Bresnu is ranked No.7 individually nationwide; Connor Graham is No.8; Tim Wiedemeyer is No.15 in individual rankings. All three were named to both fall and spring watch lists for the Haskins Award as well as to the Ben Hogan Award Watch List earlier this year.
Looking ahead, Texas Tech will participate in the Mountaineer Invitational from April 13-14 in Bridgeport, West Virginia before competing in the Big Twelve Championship later that month.
