The Texas Tech men’s golf team advanced to second place at the Valspar Collegiate Invitational after two rounds on March 23, trailing only Auburn by two shots. The Red Raiders finished the day at 28-under-par after playing 36 holes at Floridian National Golf Club.
This performance places Texas Tech ahead of third-place Texas by eight strokes in a field featuring sixteen teams. The strong showing was highlighted by a second-round score of 17-under-par, which marked the program’s third-lowest team round this season.
Ben Gregg led the Red Raiders with a career-best round versus par, shooting a five-under 66 in the second round and tying for fourth individually at eight-under overall. Tim Wiedemeyer matched his career low with a seven-under 64 and is tied for eighth individually. Adam Bresnu is tied for tenth at six under par, while Connor Graham and Brady McHenry are also among the top competitors for Texas Tech.
All five players from Texas Tech posted even or better scores in the opening round and shot under par in the second round, demonstrating depth across their lineup. The tournament will conclude Tuesday morning with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.
