Texas Tech was ranked throughout the 2025-26 men’s basketball season, finishing at No. 21 in the final Associated Press Top 25 Poll, according to an April 7 announcement from the program. This marks the first time in Texas Tech history that its team appeared in every poll during a single season, extending its streak to 29 consecutive weeks.
The achievement is significant for Texas Tech, as it reflects consistent national recognition and performance across a challenging schedule.
Under head coach Grant McCasland, the Red Raiders finished with a record of 23-11 and tied for third place in the Big 12 Conference with a conference record of 12-6. The team advanced to its third straight NCAA Tournament appearance, defeating Akron in the first round before falling to Alabama in the second round. During this season, Texas Tech secured victories over several top-ranked teams—including Arizona (No.1), Duke (No.3), Iowa State (No.4), and Houston (No.6)—setting a new program record for most wins against Top 10 opponents.
The final AP poll placed Michigan at No.1 after winning the national championship game on Monday night, followed by UConn at No.2 and Arizona at No.3. Other Big 12 teams represented included Houston (No.7), Iowa State (No.8), and Kansas (No.20).
Individual honors were awarded to several Red Raiders players: JT Toppin earned Consensus All-America honors after averaging nearly a double-double per game before his season-ending injury; Christian Anderson set a school record with assists while also being named to multiple All-America teams; Donovan Atwell set another school mark with made three-pointers and received All-Big 12 Honorable Mention status.
Head coach Grant McCasland was recognized as NABC Gulf District Co-Coach of the Year.
