Texas Tech defeated Ole Miss on May 17 with a 14-2 run-rule victory at Tracy Sellers Field, securing a spot in the NCAA Super Regional round for the second consecutive season.
The Red Raiders’ win marks their sixth straight NCAA Regional victory in Lubbock and sets a new program record with their 55th win of the season. Mihyia Davis broke the program record for stolen bases in a single season, reaching 37. The team’s offensive performance included an eight-run third inning and set postseason records for most runs scored and largest margin of victory.
Jackie Lis led Texas Tech offensively by driving in five runs, including two RBI singles that helped build an early lead. Lis finished the game with two hits and an RBI groundout. Davis contributed three hits, two RBI, and three runs scored, sparking key rallies throughout the game. Mia Williams, Kaitlyn Terry, Jasmyn Burns, Taylor Pannell, and Terry each had multiple hits as part of a strong showing from the middle of the lineup.
Pitcher Kaitlyn Terry improved her postseason record to 24-1 after allowing only two runs on two hits over four innings while striking out three batters. NiJaree Canady also made contributions both at bat—with a pinch-hit two-run double—and on the mound by pitching a scoreless final inning with two strikeouts.
Following this victory, Texas Tech will travel to Gainesville next weekend to face No. 6 overall seed Florida in the NCAA Super Regional round. Details regarding game times and television coverage will be announced by the NCAA.
