Enrollment Analysis: African American students comprised 4.8% of Wilson ISD schools' student body in 2022-23 school year

There were six African American students enrolled in Wilson ISD schools in the 2022-23 school year, 20% more than the previous year, according to the Texas Education Agency.

Data showed that Wilson ISD schools welcomed 125 students during the 2022-23 school year. Among them, African American students comprised 4.8% of the student body to be one of the least represented ethnicities in the district.

Wilson ISD roughly covers schools within Lynn County and has a main office in Wilson.

Wilson School was the only school in the district which enrolled African American students, welcoming six students in the 2022-23 school year.

Texas is found to be one of the least-educated states in the U.S. A study from WalletHub ranked Texas 41st out of 50 states in terms of the quality of the educational system and how successful students were.

More than 5.4 million students are enrolled in public schools across Texas. Nearly one million of them live in rural areas where options for local public schools are few and far between.
