House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-TX) announced today that Mike Franc has joined the Committee as its Policy Director. In this role, Franc will assist the Chairman and committee members in their efforts to "Reverse the Curse" and restore fiscal responsibility, economic freedom, and prosperity in America. Franc joins the leadership team alongside Staff Director Gary Andres and Deputy Staff Director Paige Decker.
Chairman Arrington expressed his enthusiasm about Franc's appointment: "I’m excited to have Mike Franc join the House Budget Committee as our Policy Director. Mike has an extraordinary background and is well known for his efforts to champion free-market economic policies and fiscal responsibility. His leadership and counsel will be important to getting the People’s fiscal house in order and our country back on a path to prosperity."
Mike Franc is a seasoned veteran of Washington, D.C., policymaking. He previously served as Chief Research Officer at the Foundation for Research on Equal Opportunity (FREOPP), where he advanced policy agendas in areas including healthcare, K-12 education, higher education, housing, energy, welfare, and economics. From 2015-2020, Franc was a research fellow at the Hoover Institution.
Before joining the Hoover Institution, Franc served as policy director and counsel for House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy and as Vice President of government relations for the Heritage Foundation from 1997-2013. He also served as communications director for former House Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-TX) and worked with both the U.S. Department of Education and the Office of National Drug Control Policy.
Franc holds a Bachelor of Arts in History from Yale University and a Juris Doctor from Georgetown University. He resides in Washington, D.C., with his four adult children.
