The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced on May 14 that seven members of the Texas Tech Red Raiders softball team were selected for the All-Central Region teams, tying Texas for the most selections in the region and setting a new program record for Texas Tech.
This recognition highlights the achievements of several players who have shown consistent performance throughout their college careers. NiJaree Canady, Mia Williams, Mihyia Davis, and Kaitlyn Terry were named to the first team. Jackie Lis was selected for the second team, while Taylor Pannell and Jasmyn Burns earned spots on the third team.
Davis has been recognized as an All-Region First Team member for four consecutive years. Canady has received this honor three years in a row, and Williams has done so in her last two seasons. Terry previously made both second and third teams in past seasons. Burns and Lis each have three career All-Region selections, while Pannell now has two.
Canady and Terry were also included on the USA Softball Player of the Year Top 10 Watchlist earlier this week. Williams leads several offensive categories for Texas Tech this season with records in home runs (22), runs (81), and RBI (73), along with being close to breaking records for doubles (21) and total bases (165). Davis tops the team with 82 hits, five triples, and 34 stolen bases—each ranking among program bests. Lis and Burns both have tallied 17 home runs with over 50 RBI apiece; Pannell is batting .360 with nine home runs, 47 RBI, and just two errors at third base.
Texas Tech will next host the Lubbock Regional starting Friday at 3:30 p.m., where they will face Marist.
