Rep. Jodey Arrington, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Texas’ 19th district since 2017, used his Twitter account on May 13, 2026 to advocate for state authority in matters of border security and community safety.

On May 13, Arrington stated, “The right of a state to defend its people is not a novel theory – it is one the Framers explicitly provided for in the Constitution. That is why I introduced H.Res.50, a resolution endorsed by every Texas Republican in Congress and supported by a broad coalition of policy”. In another post made seconds later, he encouraged followers to read more about his position by linking an opinion piece: “Read my @FoxNews opinion here.”

Later that day, Arrington reiterated his stance on state rights and border protection: “The security of our border and the safety of our communities cannot depend solely on who occupies the White House. Fortunately, the Constitution provides a remedy that ensures states are not left defenseless if and when future administrations attempt to return us to open-border”.

Arrington’s recent statements align with his legislative activity as he referenced introducing H.Res.50—a resolution reportedly backed by all Texas Republicans in Congress. He also drew attention to constitutional provisions regarding state defense powers.

Jodey Arrington has maintained strong electoral support throughout his tenure in Congress. In the most recent general election held in 2024, he defeated Nathan Lewis with 80.7% of the vote. His previous victories include defeating Nathan Lewis again in 2022 (80.3%), Tom Watson in 2020 (74.8%), Miguel Levario in 2018 (75.2%), and Troy Bonar in 2016 (86.7%).
