Rep. Jodey Arrington, a U.S. Congressman from Texas, used his social media platform in mid-October 2025 to criticize Senate Democrats and express concerns over government funding negotiations and the treatment of federal law enforcement officers.

On October 15, Arrington posted, “The longer this Schumer Shutdown goes, the worse it gets for Americans in need – but Democrats continue to hold funding hostage because they want free health care for illegals, no work requirements for able-bodied adults, and permanently subsidized health care for people making https://t.co/XmArVZfQzF”. In this message, he attributes the ongoing government shutdown to Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and the Democratic caucus, criticizing their policy priorities.

Later that day, Arrington continued his criticism, stating, “8 times now, Chuck Schumer has led his Senate Democrats to vote NO on funding the people’s government for the purpose of placating the Left, not serving the American people. https://t.co/zEVtRX7HSl”. This tweet alleges repeated opposition by Senate Democrats to government funding measures.

On October 16, Arrington shifted focus to law enforcement, writing, “As the Left continues to vilify and even assault federal law enforcement officers for simply doing their job, they are turning a blind eye to foreign criminal organizations putting bounties on our agents and their families. We must have law and order and the brave few willing to https://t.co/XGeq7oQmaN https://t.co/45uNUSlvXT”. Here, he expressed concern over the safety of federal agents and criticized those who he says undermine their work.

Arrington has held his congressional seat since 2016, consistently winning re-election by wide margins. In the 2024 general election, he defeated Nathan Lewis with 80.7% of the vote. Previous elections in 2022, 2020, 2018, and 2016 also saw Arrington secure significant victories over his opponents.
