WASHINGTON D.C. – This week, Representative Jodey Arrington (TX-19) released the following statement in support of the Gas Stove Protection and Freedom Act and Save our Stoves Act.
“I represent 770,000 constituents in 33 counties and I’ve never heard a single concern expressed about gas stoves. Their emissions are almost nothing and they provide the most affordable means of feeding families all across the country. President Biden and the Democrat Party are obsessed with climate change and are staggeringly out of touch with the real needs of the American people,” said Rep. Arrington.
Background:
The Gas Stove Protection and Freedom Act would:
- Prohibit the Consumer Product Safety Commission from using federal funds to:
- Regulate gas stoves as a banned hazardous product
- Issue or enforce a product safety standard that prohibits the use or sale of gas stoves or substantially increases their price
The Save Our Gas Stoves Act would:
- Prevent the Secretary of Energy from implementing energy conservation standards if the standards result in the unavailability of a product on account of the type of fuel the product uses.
- The bill also prohibits the Department of Energy from finalizing and implementing the February 1, 2023, proposed energy efficiency standard for gas cooking product
