The Texas Tech indoor track and field team competed on March 13 in the first day of the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
The event is significant as it brings together top collegiate athletes from across the country to compete for national titles. For Texas Tech, advancing athletes to finals highlights their continued presence among elite programs.
Malachi Snow led the Red Raiders by qualifying for Saturday’s final in both the 60-meter sprint and the 60-meter hurdles. Snow posted a time of 6.54 seconds in his heat of the 60 meters, earning one of the next best four times needed to advance. This marks his second consecutive year reaching the NCAA indoor final in this event. About an hour later, he ran a time of 7.43 seconds in the 60-meter hurdles, tying his personal best and school record, also making him a finalist for that event for a second straight year.
Other notable performances included Sean Gribble clearing 5.40 meters (17-8½) to finish 16th in pole vault, Success Umukoro finishing with a time of 7.25 seconds for 14th place overall in the women’s 60 meters, and Kamron Neal placing 15th in the men’s 200 meters with a time of 21.27 seconds. Tonie-Ann Forbes was unable to compete due to an injury sustained during warmup before her race, while Antoine Andrews did not finish after pulling up following the second hurdle.
The Red Raiders are set to conclude their participation tomorrow afternoon with events beginning at 1:45 p.m., starting with both men’s and women’s high jump.
