Dustin Burrows, a Republican member of the Texas House of Representatives for District 83 since 2015, has recently addressed issues surrounding legislative attendance and quorum in a series of posts on his social media account.
On August 4, 2025, Burrows criticized Democratic lawmakers for their absence from the Texas Legislature. He wrote, “Texas will not be held hostage by Democrat lawmakers who abandon their duty. I commend the House members who showed up today — ready to honor their oath, confront real challenges, and deliver results for the people of Texas. To those who fled: your absence delays our work, but”.
The following day, August 5, Burrows reported meeting with key officials regarding enforcement actions related to legislative attendance. He stated, “This morning I met with House Administration Chairman @charliegeren, DPS Director Freeman Martin, and Lt. Colonel Walt Goodson about enforcing the civil arrest warrants issued yesterday. The Texas Constitution requires members of the Legislature to show up, and Texans expect us”.
Later that same day, Burrows acknowledged Senator Robert Duncan’s birthday and referenced previous efforts to make quorum in the legislature. He posted, “Happy birthday to the best Chief of Staff, Chancellor/Senator Robert Duncan. He’s spending his birthday working to make quorum — and reminded me he spent his birthday in 2003 doing the same… #txlege”.
Burrows was elected to represent Texas’ 83rd House district in 2015 after succeeding Charles Perry.
