House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington said on May 13 that Kevin Warsh has been confirmed by the Senate as the new chair of the Federal Reserve.
The appointment is significant because it comes at a time when economic leadership is seen as crucial for addressing current challenges. The House Budget Committee, led by Arrington, plays a key role in overseeing federal spending and promoting fiscal responsibility, according to the official website.
Arrington said, “Big economic challenges require the most serious and experienced leadership at the Federal Reserve. Kevin Warsh is the right man for the job. Kevin is a longtime friend and former White House colleague—one of the smartest and most talented people with whom I served. He is a conservative economist, financial markets expert, and respected authority on fiscal, monetary, and economic policy—and, above all, a strong leader with deep convictions for free people, free markets, and fiscal responsibility.”
He continued: “Kevin has been unambiguous: inflation is a choice. I trust him to deliver stable prices for the hardworking Americans who feel the effects of every price increase. He has questioned the Fed’s recent failures, criticized its overreach, and rightfully admonished its complicity in the explosion of our national debt. He is committed to eliminating mission creep at the Fed—keeping it focused on its dual mandate of delivering for the American people.” Arrington also said: “Kevin has dedicated his career to serving our great country and advancing the principles that made America the most powerful and prosperous nation in human history.”
The House Budget Committee includes members from key committees such as Ways and Means and Appropriations; it collaborates with entities like the Congressional Budget Office for independent analyses; it prepares annual budget resolutions using tools such as reconciliation; and it sets guidelines for spending targets—all roles described by the official website.
Looking ahead, observers will watch how Warsh leads monetary policy at this pivotal moment while working within mandates set forth by Congress.
