House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington visited the Muleshoe National Wildlife Refuge to mark the Fish and Wildlife Service’s decision to cancel a proposed Land Protection Plan. The plan, put forward during the Biden Administration, would have expanded the refuge by more than 10,000 percent. Arrington argued that this expansion would have affected private property rights in West Texas.
“Had to stop by the Muleshoe National Wildlife Refuge to celebrate the Fish & Wildlife Service’s decision to cancel Biden’s ridiculous land grab that would have expanded the refuge by more than 10,000%,” said Chairman Arrington. “I was proud to lead the fight in Congress – introducing the No FED in West Texas Act and passing amendments to defund this overreach – to protect private property and safeguard our way of life. Now, thanks to President Trump, this green new scam initiative is permanently canceled.”
Arrington has held his seat since 2016 and has won several elections with large margins. In 2024, he defeated Nathan Lewis with over 80 percent of the vote. He also won against Lewis in 2022 with a similar margin, and previously defeated Tom Watson in 2020 and Miguel Levario in 2018, both times securing more than 74 percent of votes. In his first election in 2016, Arrington won against Troy Bonar with nearly 87 percent of votes.
