House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington recently hosted a roundtable discussion in Lubbock, Texas, to celebrate the passage of H.R.1, known as the One Big Beautiful Bill. The legislation was signed into law by President Trump on Independence Day and aims to secure significant conservative reforms.
Chairman Arrington stated, “The One Big Beautiful Bill not only secures President Trump’s America First Agenda while delivering the largest spending reduction in American history, it delivers critical conservative reforms that will be a game changer for Rural America.” He emphasized the importance of meeting with community leaders and local businesses to discuss these achievements.
Texas Speaker of the House Dustin Burrows commented on the federal government’s role, saying, “The federal government’s finally doing what its first responsibility is,” highlighting defense and tax savings. State Representative Carl Tepper praised West Texas leadership’s influence at both state and national levels.
Lubbock County Sheriff Kelly Rowe stressed safety and security as prerequisites for prosperity under this bill. Plains Cotton Growers Vice President Brent Coker acknowledged recent efforts benefiting farmers during challenging financial times.
Robert Wood from the Lubbock Chamber of Commerce highlighted benefits for small businesses: “It permanently extends a 20% small business reduction for family-owned farms and $30 million in small businesses.”
Susie Stell from Project Destiny underscored life protection as paramount among various provisions in the bill. Steve Burns of LSG Tactical Arms noted significant Second Amendment reforms within the legislation.
The One Big Beautiful Bill includes major conservative victories such as tax cuts, spending reform, agriculture investment, energy policy changes, border security enhancements, and national defense improvements. It also defunds Planned Parenthood and safeguards Second Amendment rights while codifying several executive orders from President Trump.
