House Budget Chairman Jodey Arrington delivered remarks on the House floor today, honoring the victims of recent catastrophic floods in Central Texas. The floods claimed at least 134 lives, including 27 young girls and counselors at Camp Mystic in Kerr County.
Arrington paid tribute to several constituents from his district who lost their lives. Tanya Burwick was remembered as a hardworking West Texan, dedicated to her family while working at Walmart Neighborhood Market in San Angelo. Holly Frizzell, another victim, was a mother and grandmother who became an advocate for dementia awareness after her husband’s passing.
Robert and Joni Brake were also honored. Robert was an Air Force veteran and Joni a registered nurse. They died while celebrating the 4th of July near Hunt, Texas.
Arrington called on Texans and Americans to honor these individuals by embodying their spirit of service and love. He emphasized the importance of prayer and God’s comfort during this difficult time.
“May God bless our great country,” Arrington concluded, “May God comfort these families, and go West Texas.”
